Baltimore Afro American July 9, 1927 Page 6 Lakeland, MD At Embry AME Church Sunday School was held at 10:30, and service with Rev. Wing, pastor in charge preaching and giving communion. Children’s Day exercises were held at 8 PM. Julia Briscoe had as guests on Sunday Rev. and Mrs. Wing, Mr. Washington the father of Mrs. Wing. On the third Sunday in July at 11 am the Union Band will hold services at Embry . They will go to First Baptist for communion service at 3 pm. Former Lakeland resident George Briscoe of Charlotte Hall visited his mother Julia Briscoe. Susie Briscoe had Goldie Peake of Cumberland as a weekend guest. Mrs. James H. Gray had her sister, Bertha Brown of Baltimore as a guest for the 4th of July holiday. Bowie Normal School students, Bessie Mack and Ruth Johnson are at home with their parents for the holiday. A large group traveled to Elkridge, Md for a Queens’ Rally. Mrs. Hannah Thomas represented the Queen of Great Brittan. Her attendants were Mary Brooks, Frances Randall, Maggie Mack, Ellen Briscoe, Arline Davis, Dora Robinson, Ida Brown, Mary Johnson, Mamie Weems, Agnes Forest, Annie Crump, Alice Branson, Eunice Johnson and Eliza Gray. Mr. and Mrs. Greene hosted guests James Carter of New York, Cornelius Carter, John Brown and Ambrose Jackson of Washington DC on Sunday. Young Marie and Dorothy Greene are making a weekend visit to their godmother, Josephine Ford in Washington DC Mr. and Mrs. Moody are hosting Miss Evelyn Moody (sister of Thomas) and M. Patterson of Jersey City for a week’s visit. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Thomas have as guests the Misses Greene from Baltimore Chesley Mack, Lawrence Brooks and his wife, Pauline Gray and Eugene Brown are making a visit to Montreal. They will stay until Monday.
