Many departments at the University of Maryland provided stable employment for Lakelanders. The lower lefthand image shows, left to right, Pauline Gray and Etelka Lomax preparing meals in the kitchen at the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Other Lakeland residents, including Saxoline Campbell, Dorothy Holman, and Hazel Thomas, also were employed as cooks and kitchen-service staff for sorority and fraternity houses.
