Agnes and George Henry Gross were married in a quiet ceremony at the home of her sister Ira, in Baltimore, Maryland. The couple chose to make a festive occasion of their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Family and friends were invited to the Gross residence on Cloud Avenue on April 8, 1950, for a reception. Here the Grosses view their anniversary gifts.

With the leadership of their coaches, Ambrose Green and Spenser Briscoe Sr., the Lakeland Stars baseball team won their league championship in 1986. This was one of the last years the community fielded a team. After serving several terms as a member of the College Park City Council, Dervey Lomax was elected mayor of College Park in 1973. The event marked a milestone for the citizens of Lakeland, as he was their first native son and the only person of color to have been elected to that high office. His installation was an evening of celebration. Present for the ceremonies were the following, from left to right: (seated) Etelka Lomax, the mother of Mayor Lomax; (first row) four members of the Lomax Sisters singing group; Charles Lomax, the father of the mayor; Mayor Lomax; his wife, Thelma; and their son Gregory; (second row) William Lomax, Vera and Phillip Matthews, Valarie Smith, Delores Dotson, and Charles Dory.

Jean Gray Smith is seen in the hat center during a visit to Sandy Point Beach on a Sunday School Picnic sponsored by Embry AME Church. Smith was a New Yorker. The daughter of Lakelander Margaret Gross Gray she frequently visited her mother's home community. This day she was visiting the family members along with her own sons, Charles and Kevin.
