Year end program for dance classes sponsored by Prince George's County Recreation Department at Lakeland Elementary School, Event held in school's multi purpose room.

Members of the Lakeland High School Dance Group in 1946. Group President Mary Day and secretary LaVerne Tolson are pictured, as are other members. They are shown in the school hallway. Dance, music, and athletics were offered at the school. Teachers donated time to the community and often taught extracurricular programs after school. Educators defined their roles as providing more than classroom learning; they worked to expand the cultural horizons of students, as well.

Children in tap dance performance during dance recital at Lakeland Elementary School. Classes had been put on at the school by Prince Georges County's recreation department. The program at the school was very well attended but short lived.

On the left is a section dedicated to the Senior Show - theirs was space themed ("In Orbit"), providing a live telecast, commentators, dance performances, and interviews. Opposite is the New York Trip, themed "All Around the Town."
